Panasonic Aquarea — settings and winter behaviour

The Panasonic Aquarea series is a common air-to-water choice in Estonia. The most frequent weak point is the immersion heater enabling too early and quiet mode's effect on capacity in cold weather.

Quiet mode and capacity limiting

Quiet mode reduces fan speed and therefore capacity. Left on permanently in winter, it can lead to immersion heater use. We recommend scheduling quiet mode only for night hours and turning it off below −5 °C.

Immersion heater enable threshold

If backup heat is already enabled at 0 °C, it often runs when the compressor could still manage alone. Lowering the threshold and adjusting the curve is usually the first step.

Frequently asked questions

Does quiet mode increase electricity consumption?+

Indirectly, yes, if the unit can't meet heat demand and the immersion heater switches on. In mild weather the effect is small.

How can I tell if backup heat is running too much?+

Compare daily consumption with outdoor temperature. A sharp jump in mild weather can indicate electric backup heat. We recommend checking the backup heater's running hours.
