Balancing radiators and underfloor heating

Balancing means each loop gets exactly the flow its room needs. An unbalanced system forces you to raise the flow temperature for the whole house.

Underfloor heating manifold

The manifold has flow meters whose values should match the design: longer loops and colder rooms need more flow. Make changes in small steps.

Radiators

Presets on radiators further away need to be opened more than on nearby ones. After a change, wait at least a day before the next adjustment.

Frequently asked questions

How much does balancing save?+

If it allows the flow temperature to drop by 3–5 °C, the estimated saving is usually 6–15% of heating cost.

Can I do it myself?+

Adjusting underfloor manifold flow meters and radiator presets is manageable for an owner if changes are made in small steps.
