Daikin Altherma 3 — low-temperature setup

Altherma 3 is optimised for low flow temperature. Its automation can take weather forecasts into account and smooth out cycles, when these functions are enabled and the curve is chosen correctly.

Curve and weather-compensated control

Weather-compensated control should be switched on. A fixed flow temperature mode means the pump runs at a winter temperature even in spring and autumn.

Hot water timing

We recommend moving the hot water cycle to the daytime, when outdoor air is warmer. This is estimated to raise cycle efficiency and reduce the need for backup heat.

Frequently asked questions

Does the weather-forecast function give a real saving?+

Usually a small but steady effect, since it reduces over- and under-heating. The biggest impact still comes from the right curve.

Does Altherma 3 need a buffer tank?+

In a system with a small water volume, a buffer helps avoid short cycling. The need should be assessed by the installer.
