Problem

Hot water is lukewarm or runs out quickly

Lukewarm or quickly depleted hot water is inconvenient, but the cause is often simple: too low a setpoint, an undersized tank, or a thermostatic mixing valve setting.

Order of checks

1. Tank target temperature on the control panel. 2. Thermostatic mixing valve setting, which limits tap water temperature. 3. Tank volume relative to household size. 4. Hot water cycle timing, if it coincides with peak demand.

When it's a technical fault

If the setpoint is fine but the tank doesn't reach it within several hours, the problem could be the heat exchanger, circulation, or the unit's priority setting. In that case we recommend having it inspected.

Frequently asked questions

What hot water temperature is safe and economical?+

The right temperature depends on the cylinder, pipework and manufacturer requirements. A lower setting saves energy but needs suitable Legionella protection — there is no single universal number.

Does a larger tank mean a bigger bill?+

Only slightly more standby loss. Frequent reheating of a small tank can end up more costly overall.
